Connect AirWorkflows to Claude
Turn workflow descriptions into editable visual canvases. The connector lets Claude inspect your AirWorkflows workspace, search imported Airtable structure, and create or edit canvases.
AirWorkflows does not use this connector to create or edit Airtable records, fields, automations, or interfaces.
Connect in Claude
- Create an account at AirWorkflows and sign in.
- In Claude, add a custom web connector with the server URL
https://airworkflows.mshamil.com/api/mcp. - Choose account sign-in. AirWorkflows shows the requested access and asks you to allow or deny it. You do not give Claude your AirWorkflows password.
- Optionally save an Airtable connection in your AirWorkflows profile to use real tables, fields, forms, automations, and interfaces. Without one, Claude can still build a process-only canvas with custom objects.
For Claude Code, run:
claude mcp add --transport http airworkflows https://airworkflows.mshamil.com/api/mcp
Then complete the browser sign-in when Claude Code prompts for it. A personal API token in your AirWorkflows profile is a separate option for clients that cannot use OAuth.
What Claude can do
| Tool | Access | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
list_workspace_context | Read | List canvases, revisions, and saved Airtable connections. |
search_airtable_objects | Read | Find real imported Airtable objects and their source IDs. |
get_canvas | Read | Inspect a canvas, its lanes, stages, objects, and connections. |
create_canvas_draft | Write | Create an empty AirWorkflows canvas. |
apply_canvas_patch | Write | Add, update, or remove canvas objects and connections; supports dry-run validation. |
Claude should search imported Airtable structure before choosing a real object. If no matching real object exists, it may use a custom object. All edits are to AirWorkflows canvases, never to Airtable.
Example requests:
- “Show my canvases and saved Airtable connections.”
- “Find the Main Form Responses table and the automations related to it.”
- “Create a workflow for a request handoff. Use real Airtable objects where available and custom steps for anything missing.”
Troubleshooting
- If sign-in fails, verify that you can sign in at AirWorkflows, then disconnect and reconnect the Claude connector.
- If a real Airtable object is missing, refresh the saved connection's schema in AirWorkflows. Claude only reads structure available to your account.
- If Claude reports a revision conflict, ask it to call
list_workspace_contextagain before retrying the write. - To disconnect, use Disconnect Claude sessions in your AirWorkflows profile and remove the connector in Claude. Revoke any personal API token separately.
